JAMES F. NELSON, III
Jim Nelson is the founder of Nelson Commercial Properties where he serves as president and CEO. Prior to forming Nelson Commercial Properties, Nelson was president of The National Realty Group (TNRG), having joined the firm in 2005 to lead development efforts. Prior to that he was a Partner in the Houston based industrial and office development firm Dienna Nelson Augustine.
During his seven-year stint with TNRG, Nelson was directly responsible for over 1.8 million square feet of new development projects and the purchase of more than 200 acres of business parks. Nelson also led aggressive acquisition efforts, netting the firm more than 600,000 square feet of value-add projects.
Nelson has significant development and acquisition experience which includes the Airport Industrial Center, West Houston Business Park, Park Row Center, Legacy Park, Rankin North, Cutten Commerce Park, Graystone Business Park and West Rail I & II projects.
Additionally, Nelson completed numerous build-to-suit projects for such clients as Federal Express, First Health Corporation, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Cabot Oil & Gas, and LKQ Corporation.
Business park development under Nelson’s leadership has included a 70-acre tract located on the Beltway at Antoine, a 64-acre tract at Oak Ridge North, 34 acres at FM 529, 42 acres at Cutten Commerce Park and the 73 acre Port Northwest. Acquisition efforts included numerous facilities such as Market/Portwall, 7611 Railhead, Air Center Boulevard, and 8420 N. Sam Houston Parkway.
Prior to TNRG, Nelson joined Dienna Simpkins Company in 1984, the predecessor to Dienna Nelson Augustine Company. During his tenure with the company, he served as vice president of marketing with responsibilities for marketing and leasing of all multi-tenant properties as well as evaluating and acquiring new projects for management or development opportunities. In 1997, Nelson became a principal and part owner.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation he began his real estate career at CB Commercial as an industrial broker.
